Environmental Sustainability Policy

NIBLL understands that its activities have both direct and indirect environmental impacts and sees the protection of the environment as an integral part of good institutional practice.

NIBLL is therefore committed to improving its environmental sustainability performance for the benefit of the people who live and work in our local communities, and for the wider community now and in the future.

To support these aspirations, NIBLL is committed to:

  • Developing an environmental management system to effectively manage its environmental impacts
  • Continually improving its environmental performance through the effective implementation of environmental improvement initiatives
  • Reducing, and where possible preventing, pollution through the effective and efficient use of resources and partnering with local bio-fuel companies
  • Complying with all relevant environmental legislation and other environmental requirements 
  • Communicating this Policy effectively to the local communities in which we operate and the wider public through our website

Specifically, NIBLL will focus its efforts on the following:

  • Developing and maintaining an effective strategy for carbon emissions reduction, through greener vehicles by 2020
  • Engaging its employees and clients with initiatives to minimize environmental impact
  • Ensuring that improvements to its Physical Estate are undertaken in a sustainable manner
  • Improving energy efficiency and water conservation within its Physical Estate
  • Improving waste management practices to minimize waste generation and maximize the recycling and recovery of waste which is generated
  • Sourcing and procuring, where feasible, more environmentally friendly goods and services
  • Managing its grounds to minimize impacts on biodiversity
  • Encouraging sustainable travel amongst its staff.
